Introduction

ShipStation enables eCommerce businesses, primarily SMBs, to manage orders, inventory, and shipping labels in one place.

Problems

  1. Organizing 1000s of Orders - Customers have up to 1000s of orders that they need to ship. Organizing all this orders that makes sense for our users wasn't great.

  2. Purchase labels one by one is time consuming - Users are purchasing labels one by one. Imagine trying to ship 1000s of orders in one day. This is a no-brainer.

Opportunities

User opportunities (Why do users care?)

Empower users to work faster and stay organized. Bulk label purchasing replaces the one-by-one approach, improving satisfaction and speed.

Business Opportunities (What's in it for Dozuki?)

Faster shipping is ShipStation's edge. We can’t increase order volume, but by shortening the time from label purchase to delivery will help ShipStation generate revenue sooner.

Label generated = revenue generated.

Designs

Group orders by similarity

Orders are grouped

Filter out orders by marketplace and selling channel

Combine N orders into "batches"

Process "batches" - Purchase N shipping labels at once

Completed purchase summary

Learnings & Results

Releasing the first version of bulk label purchasing revealed an important insight: customers preferred 500-label batches to match typical roll sizes of 500–1000.
